Why Crocheting: 

I chose to learn how to crochet because it is currently coming back in style for the summer season of 2019. The style of crocheted garments is very boho chique, typically related to festival and holiday season because its very lose stitches to allow you to stay cool on beaches etc. 

Crocheting Samples: 

These are my first two crochet samples that I worked on which is just a basic chain stitch. 

I used two different thicknesses of yarn to experiment with the texture and appearance. 

The next stitch I tried out was the shell stitch. This one was much harder and did not go to plan. 

To improve this stitch I would use a different yarn; the blue yarn was too thin and the pink yarn was way too thick. 

What to make: 

A crochet trend I was interested in is hand bags. 

Different crochet stitches created different looks for each bags but I like the homemade style of these bags. 

My Bag: 

I chose to make a square base bag with the base being made from a thin yarn. The sides are made from a much thicker yarn to give the bag structure and allow it to hold items without them slipping through. 

For the handles, I am booked to use the laser cutter next week to cut handles out of old wood and attach them by crochet to the bag
