Samsung Wavey Garms urban Fashion Swap

Wavey Garms was set up by Andres Branco, 25, a former chef; he started trading vintage designer branded garments between friends and the news of the garments he got hold of escalated. the reason for starting Wavey Garms, was to allow individuals to have access to bold and influential garments without having to trawl through tat on Ebay. He felt he knew what people were demanding and this has led his business to become one of the most influential fashion sites in the UK. Their main goal was to create a "cool" environment for like-minded people to buy and sell niche clothing. 

Wavey Garms now has over 70,000 users between 16-30, with three groups, Wavey Garms, Wavey Garms Ladies and Wavey Kicks, and 7,050 people on the waiting list. Vice stated that "Wavey Garms is reddit for people selling old Hilfiger windbreakers instead of atheism". 

We received street wear tips from the Wavey Garms team, and an exchange of clothing and accessories. Andres told us of how he broke into the fashion industry through bold prints and explained to us how as fashion students that being bold and having truth behind your designs is what will get you noticed within the industry. 

Personalised Garments: 

The event also allowed us to receive garments that had been free hand illustrated on, which we could request. I received a white bucket hat and matching Mac raincoat. Both garments had been illustrated on by the designers. These individuals were friends of Andres, once speaking to them, they told us how he takes them to events to promote their art work to help them out; to create their own platform within the fashion Industry. 

The Wavey Garms Influence: 

- Wavey Garms focuses on sustainable fashion through trading vintage designer wear that need 'reloving' and new appreciation 

- Wavey Garms produced an advert for unwanted and unused coats last October, they planned to reinvent the coats and make them 'Wavey' and then donate the items to charities for homeless people to keep warm in the winter months. 

- Andres Branco is very close with the friends and companions he surrounds himself with, and is willing to help them out in any way he can by furthering their careers at any opportunity he can; his illustrators, his friends and is employees.
